Celebrating
the Korean Independence Day in Seattle Washington
The 62nd anniversary of the independence of the people of Korea's reception
was given in
the lobby of City Hall at at 12:30 p.m. followed by action at its 2
p.m. meeting in Council Chambers on Councilmember Jan Drag proposed
for Wednesday, August 15th, 2007 as Korea Day in Seattle.

Consul General Kwon Chan Ho accepted the proclamation, and the Seattle-Taejon
Sister City Association, President, Hyun K. Lee. The Sister City will
celebrates its own 18th anniversary later this year. This historic moment
witnessed by the Seattle Council members, Nick Licata, Council President,
Sally Clark, Richard Conlin, David Della, Jan Drago, Jean Godden, Richard
McIver, Tom Rasmussen, and Peter Steinbrueck. The City of Federal Way,
Mayor Michael Park, Seattle Korean American Association, President Kim
Ki Hyen, Korean Women's Association of Washington, President, Sandra
Englund, and KWA Board Members, Korean Airline General Manager, Hyen
Dae Shipping Company general Manager, and the Korean American Chambers
Commerce President Kim Nak Soo, Prof. Han and other community leaders.
The Morning Star performed the magnificent drum dancing and played the
Korean traditional instrument Komungo which was led by the Moring Star
choreographer Cheh Ji Yeon. Special thanks to Councilmember Jan Drago
for her special effort on this proposal.
Also
The NW Korean Community Sport event was given at the Steillacom Park
by Tacoma Korean American Association which led by President Lee Jong
Joo in August 11th, 2007. Many activities held include Voice club's
Performances, Kim's Group performances, Korean Soccer, Balley Ball,
Basket Ball, and etc. Many Korean community and business leaders appreciates
to the Washington States for their value that the cultural and ethnic
diversity which will continue to celebrate the independance and freedom.
