American Association of Tacoma celebrated Chinese New Year 2007
at the Tacoma New Life Church in Tacoma, opened 5:00 PM and
ended 9:30 PM. KWA (Korean Women Association) prepared dinner
for 600 People. KAAT President Captain Yi and KAAT Board Chair
both introduced new member of KAAT 2007. About 600 people attended
include Senator Paull Shin, Consul General, City of Lakewood
Mayor, Claudia, City of Federal Way, Mayor Park, and Retired
Korean Major General Nam Pyo Park attended this ceremony include
many other Korean American Community and business leaders. Senator
Paull Shin, chair of the Senate Higher Education Committee brought
the good news that he is in working to pass the Bill 5731 to
support the higher education in Math and science related fields
for the Washington State and in work Bill 5466. He said, "There
are a number of students in this largely rural area who want
to attend the university but can't afford it." In addition,
He addressed that the Washington State is confirmed that Korean
Day for the January 13, 2007. The Audience applauded as laud
as they could and appreciated. The City of Lakewood, Mayor Claudia
Thomas appreciated good food and cultural celebration of Chinese
New Year. Consul General was proud and encouraged KAAT to continue
to build their leadership and bond with the communities.

(Korean American Association of Tacoma) Chinese New Year Celebration
committee chair, Lee Jong Haeng announced the best price winner
(KAAT - idol) , Oh Young Mi. The Asiana Air presented the best
prize: round trip ticket to South Korea, KBS (Korean Broadcast
Station) in Seoul for the KAAT idol 2007, Oh Young Mi. She will
be able to join the KBS idol contest. Meanwhile, KAC-WA president
Shari Song, Cheryl Lee, Susan Lee, Kim Soona and their member
has introduced "KAC-WA" to join the KAC-WA membership. 2007
is known as the Year of the Pig. This year is the year of DingHai,
2007 and the 8th year in the current 60-year cycle. Hope you
