61st Korean Liberation Day Ceremony
- The Community Sports Event -
The
community Sports Event was held in Fort Steilacoom Park sponsored by
Korean American Association. Korean Women's Association provided Lunch
for 500 lunch boxes (BulKoKi, Vegetables, Japchae, Rice Cake, and Rice).
Chong Ki WA Restaurant provided another 500 lunch boxes. Welcome Remarks
was given by Korean Association President Lee Jong Joo, Key Note speakers:
City of Federal Way, Mayor Mike Park, ROK Consul, Kim Whee-Chul. He
just arrived in Seattle three week's ago and this was the first time
visiting in Tacoma community event. He was proud of Korean American
community in Washington. He expressed that he could see the team dynamic
and united together.
Special
Guest Speakers:Korean Women's Association Board Chair, Jong Daemeron,
and Seattle Korean Association President. About 1200 people attended
enjoyed with the following: Vollyball, Handball, Mansung quatet perfomance,
TaeKonDo marial arts, Music by The voice Group, Korean Dance performed
by Heesuk Kim Dance Team and played kids game etc..
Korean
Liberation Day: With the official surrender of Japan to the Allied
forces on August 15, 1945, the 35-year colonization of Korea by the
Japanese came to an end. August 15, 1948 also marks the establishment
of the Republic of Korea. It is positive to see the Korean American
understood that liberation day and it could not be happend without the
United States America's help. They faught for the peace and freedom
for Korean Liberation and they sacrificed their life...... We solute
to the heros......
It is positive to see that United States America and the world continue
to work for the peace of the world for the freedom and peace.
Lakewood
Mayor's Cup Soccer Tournament
Mayor's Cup Soccer Tournament was given by Korean-American
Washington State Soccer Association in August
12, 2006, Saturday 9 am - 9 pm. Hosted by: The Korean Sister
City Sub-committee of the Lakewood Sister City Association at Fort Steilacoom
Park.
(Seattle vs Vancouver), KWA Board Vice Chair. It is positive to see
the Lakewood's Sister Cities Association is to provide citizens with
cultural, educational, social and economic trade opportunities with
international cities; an opportunity for youths, adults and seniors
to celebrate our rich cultural heritages and share diversity through
a social and athletic experience.
