The 6th
Korean American Day Celebration held in Olympia for commemorating
Korean War Veterans who stood up for the freedom and prosperity
Nation at 11:00 AM on January 13, 2013 where the East Campus Plaza next
to the Capitol Way sky bridge located at: 416 Sid Snyder Avenue SW Olympia, WA 98504. The Celebration Performing program was held at the Highline Performing Art Center in Burien, WA at 3:00 PM.
At 11:00 AM, Korean American Day Celebration Foundation
hosted Commemorative memorial service for the Korean War Veterans which about
55 including veterans and community leaders and officials gather for the
service at 11:00 PM including special guest speaker Secretary of State Elect,
Kim Wyman, Senator Paull Shin, Consul Chan Sik Yoon, National Unification
Advisory Council Seattle President, and Korean American Day celebration
foundation Board Chair, John O, Korean War Merit Association, President Yang
Jae Hak, Representative Elect, Linda Kochmar, and Renton City Councilmember
Greg Taylor. The Memorial Service MC served by Sandra Englund.
The Korean American Day Celebration foundation also hosted
special program at the Highline performing Art center in Burien on January
13th, 2013 at 3:00 PM. At the beginning
may had about 500 people later filled with about 700 people due to the Sunday
church services and came back to the event. Later, about 570 people were at the
cafeteria joined dinner also received giveaway gifts whoever won the drawings.
The Program Part 1 started with EMCEE Janet O KCRA reporter and
introduced Morning Star and Opening by Korean American Committee Chair, Koh
Kyong Ho and he welcomed guests and appreciated their great enthusiastic
support and addressed to have a wonderful time during this special celebration program. Without each one of individual like
you, we could not have the celebration as we are now for the 6th
anniversary of Korean American Day Celebration.
Janet O is a Reporter and Bureau Chief for the number one rated television station in Sacramento, CA. Before joining KCRA, Janet completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley and received her masters in journalism from Syracuse University - SI Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Community involvement is a big part of Janet's life. She was proud to co-host the first ever Korean-American Day in Olympia and Korean-American Night in Spokane.
In 2010, she was one of a few journalists from around the world selected to cover the G20 Summit in Korea.
Janet and her husband live in the San Francisco Bay Area and recently welcomed a beautiful baby girl.
She put extra miles to come and support this event for MC from San Francisco Bay, CA including her family.

Kyong Ho and he welcomed guests and appreciated their great enthusiastic
support and addressed to have a wonderful time during this special celebration program.
The Honor Guards from South King Fire & rescue Honor
Guards solemnly entered into the place of the highline Performing art center
and marched on the stage. After the
US & Korean flag salutes everyone joined moment of silence to honor the men
and women who have served and sacrificed their life during the Korean War and
fought for our freedom. The Korean American music association choir’s
Star Spangled banner and Korean National Anthem filled with the glorious sound
in the theatre.

Janet O, MC introduced Consul General that he serves as a
Consul General,he has served foreign
diplomatic service over 30 years of service and he has been continue to working
for Washington State and South Korea Relationship and he continues to strive to
make better communities, we have seen better relationship with Korean War veterans.
Recently he made extra effort to visiting veterans home in Spokane and Port
Angeles in addition, better education for the children's Korean Language is
another his goal.
Consul General, Song Young Wan appreciated to the Korean
American Day Celebration Foundation for making cultural exchange and making our
communities differences. He sees the
bridge connection between Korea and U.S through the exchange the cultural
experiences with traditional cultural exploring and showing through the special
day and event. Meanwhile, he was reading President Lee Myung bak’s greetings.
ROK President Lee Myong bak expressed via greetings that he have seen more of
proud Korean immigration communities when he visited United State. It
is more proud to see that Korea and US celebrating stronger bonded relationship since 60 years ago. President Lee is sending warm wishes to the NW people and prosperity year 2013 and congratulated the 6th Korean American Day Celebration.
Consul General, Song Young Wan appreciated to the Korean
American Day Celebration Foundation for making cultural exchange and making our

Finally, Janet introduced Governor that He was declared the winner of the gubernatorial election on November 9, 2012, and will be inaugurated in January 14th of 2013 to replace outgoing Democratic Governor Chris Gregoire. Governor Elect Jay Inslee has helped businesses across Washington produce and consumes clean energy, creating jobs here at home.
The event turned out a huge success with EMCEE KCRA reporter Janet O’s lead, Governor Elect, Jay Inslee keynote speaker, Governor Elect Jay Inslee was proud of the communities bonded together making our state better and exampled Hae Ok Kim is one of good community leaders who one of his friends as community leaders. He also emphasized that he will make sure strengthens Washington State economic and creating the jobs for the future and continue to develop for higher education for better children’s future. Washington State New Governor Jay Inslee has promised to seeks to provide visionary leadership that not only strengthens our current industries, but also grows a new economy based on the clean-energy jobs of the future. He is committed to strengthening our schools so we can better equip our children for good-paying jobs, and will bring a new culture of efficiency and performance to state government.
Governor Jay Inslee emphasizing that creating the jobs for the future and
continue to develop for higher education for better children’s future is his priority.

Bennett, Mayor, Skip Priest (Federal
Way), Mayor Strickland, Marylyn (Tacoma city), King county Councilmember Pete

Susan Honda, Councilmember, Jeanne Burbidge (Federal Way), Council Member Bob Celski (Federal Way), Federal Way City

After proudly describing about the Burien City by Mayor Brian Bennett's and saying congratulations for the Korean American Day Celebration, the 9th grade of Youth essay was another touch of people's heart for
the audience that he was representing the youth for his American Dream for future leadership for better community and empowering the politically supportable for better community and better society.

from LA and Newest B-Boy from South Korea.

and a wonderful performances.
The Women's Korean Chamber Music
Ensemble, ‘DASRUM’, was established in 1990 by 8 female players who tried to
open a new future of Korean classical music.
It has been playing its role
actively as an orchestra performing over 600 times until now with creative
music presentation of Korean classical music for expanding its area into new
generation and showing a new aesthetics aiming at the ideal succession and
modernization of Korean music.
The best characteristic of
‘DASRUM’ music is sensitive and soft musical performance by women. It joins the
original aesthetics of traditional music with the refined modern sense in a
peaceful atmosphere. Furthermore, old and new members of ‘DASRUM’ are occupying
the important positions in Korean music part as a composer or player in
foremost chamber orchestra. ‘DASRUM’ is carrying out its role of the motive
power for Korean music development as well as a delivery room of leading
artists.
Of Cource the Newest B-Boys' from South Korea Performances were something else, the audience could not stop their movement of feeling how great their performance were.....and raved with round of applause...
Local Traditional Dancers from Morning Star was another beautiful and extra ordinary performances with fan dance, drums and samulnori which was rearranged for indoor perfromances in a unique of way.

After a great performances and great keynote speakers
speaking, of course, people were ready to have a great dinner bibimbap. Some had to leave and made the dinner ready
to go for them. Many of them had dinner
at the Highline High School Cafeteria in Burien and many have received drawing
prizes after drawing prizes for many of them which those were give away gifts
by many community and graceful business leaders’ sponsors with their heart of
gold. Everyone left with feeling of
blessing and joyous celebration of the 6th Korean American Day
Celebration.
Some people had to leave and made bibimbap dinner ready
to go for them.
The event turned out a huge success, committee chair,Ko Kyong Ho, and Committee Chair, Junbae Kim, and Board Chair, John Ho including many guests said that this event couldn't be better and was a great success!!
One of the notes that I would like to share from Petra
Heussner-Walker Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany, said that “It
was fabulous, the whole event was so fantastic, that it surprises me that it 'only'
took 6 months to prepare for this event.”

On January 12, 2013, The 6th Korean American Day Celebration The youth Basketball championship was presented to the Dream Team with $1000 scholarship award with a trophy.
Meanwhile Newest B-Boys performed their snick previews before the actual event was happening. In addition, also visited Korean Language School.
