PERSON OF THE YEAR 2024

    PRESIDENT-ELECT
    DONALD J TRUMP

TIME MAGAZINE HAS CHOSEN PRESIDENT-ELECT Donald Trump is TIME’s 2024 Person of the Year. Time also has chosen Donald J. Trump as a person of the year in 2016.

PRESIDENT-ELECT Donald Trump IS once-in-a-generation political realignment, for reshaping the American presidency and altering America’s role in the world, Donald Trump is TIME’s 2024 Person of the Year.

According to Time Megazine, dated, December 12, 2024, Sitting with TIME three weeks after the election, Trump was more subdued than when we visited him at Mar-a-Lago in March. He is happiest to be in a fight, and now that he has won, he sounded almost wistful, recognizing that he had run for office for the final time. “It’s sad in a way. It will never happen again,” President-Elect Donald J. Trump told Time. And while he is thinking about how that chapter has ended, for Americans and for the world, it is also the beginning of a new one.

President-Elect Donald J. Trump is once again at the center of the world, and in as strong a position as he has ever been.

    ANTICIPATING THE MOMENT
    FOR
    PEACE OF THE WORLD

    December 7 - 8th, 2024
The reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris,
    a medieval Catholic cathedral
    Paris, France

President Macron was accompanied by The First Lady Brigitte and the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo. A number of French politicians also attended the ceremony, including the outgoing Prime Minister Michel Barnier; his predecessors Édouard Philippe and Gabriel Attal; former presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande and their respective spouses; and Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella of the National Rally. François-Henri Pinault and his wife Salma Hayek, as well as Bernard Arnault, were also present in their capacity as major financial contributors to the reconstruction effort

The reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris, a medieval Catholic cathedral in Paris, France, took place on 7 December 2024 following the completion of the restoration work five years after the fire that destroyed the cathedral's spire and roof and caused extensive damage to its interior on 15 April 2019. The reopening ceremony was presided over by the Archbishop of Paris, Laurent Ulrich, in the presence of the French president, Emmanuel Macron, and other dignitaries, including present and former heads of state and government. This was followed by an inaugural mass on 8 December at which a new altar was consecrated, and a series of public services over the following days

On December 7th, 2024:  The reopening ceremony began just after 19:00 CET with the ringing of the cathedral bells and a ritual reopening of the its main doors. The Archbishop of Paris, Laurent Ulrich, struck the closed door three times with his crosier, which was made from a roof beam that had survived the fire,  to which the cathedral choir responded by singing Psalm 121 three times. On the third time, the doors opened.

Images of merci (thank you) in different languages were projected onto the facade of the cathedral, following a video presentation of the fire damage and restoration, as a group of 160 firefighters who had responded to the fire, as well as the artisans and craftspeople who restored the building, were applauded.

After a performance of Handel's Passacaglia by Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, President Macron gave an address in which he thanked those involved in the restoration. The apostolic nuncio to France, Archbishop Celestino Migliore, then read a message from Pope Francis −who had declined an invitation to attend the ceremony−  in which the Pope expressed his joy at joining "in spirit and prayer" with those at the cathedral.

This was followed by a short religious service in which Archbishop Ulrich blessed the restored organ, which was heard for the first time since 2019 with a series of responses improvised by Olivier Latry, Vincent Dubois, Thierry Escaich and Thibault Fajoles.  The ceremony also featured prayers, hymns, other choral music and a homily.

A live concert in the forecourt of the cathedral was also planned but, due to the anticipated effects of Storm Darragh, had been recorded a day earlier by the public broadcaster France Télévisions and was aired after the service. It included performances by pianist Lang Lang, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, opera singers Pretty Yende and Julie Fuchs, and singers Angélique Kidjo and Hiba Tawaji.

    On December 8th, 2024

The inaugural mass, held on the Catholic Feast of the Immaculate Conception,  took place at 10:30 CET and was presided over by Archbishop Ulrich, who consecrated the new high altar and placed inside it the relics of five saints. President Macron and his wife, as well as other heads of state and government and senior French politicians, were also in attendance.

At the Archbishop's invitation, nearly 170 bishops from France and around the world participated in the service, along with one priest from each of the 106 parishes in the Diocese of Paris, and one priest from each of the seven Eastern Catholic Churches, accompanied by parishioners from these communities.  Among the clergy were Cardinals Timothy M. Statement from President Joe Biden on Russia’s Attack on Ukraine

    Statements and Releases

Overnight, Russia carried out a horrific aerial attack against Ukraine. Ukrainian authorities report that Russia launched nearly 200 missiles and drones against Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure, depriving Ukrainian civilians of access to electricity. This attack is outrageous and serves as yet another reminder of the urgency and importance of supporting the Ukrainian people in their defense against Russian aggression.

On this day, my message to the Ukrainian people is clear: the United States stands with you. Earlier this year, and at my direction, the United States began prioritizing air defense exports so they go to Ukraine first. The Department of Defense has delivered hundreds of additional air defense missiles to Ukraine, as a consequence of this decision, and further deliveries are underway. For months, my Administration has been working to help Ukraine increase the resilience of its energy grid in preparation for the winter, and the Department of Defense continues to surge other critical capabilities to Ukraine, including artillery, rockets, and armored vehicles.

Russia continues to underestimate the bravery, resilience, and determination of the Ukrainian people. The United States stands with more than 50 countries in support of Ukraine and its fight for freedom.

Second Address To Nation In 24 Hrs November 23rd, 2024

Second Address To Nation In 24 Hrs | Nuclear War | NATO | Ukraine

The USS George Washington (CVN 73) recently returned to Yokosuka, Japan, marking its second deployment as the forwarding-deployed aircraft carrier for the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet.  This visit underscores the U.S.'s commitment to maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region, enhancing regional stability and security through collaboration with allies.

NATO Prepares for Nuclear War with Putin as Trump Returns to White House | From The Frontline

US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer have armed Ukraine with the ATACMS and the Storm Shadow weapons systems respectively. On the 1,000th day of the Russia-Ukraine War, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ordered a strike deep inside Russia using the ATACMS. In retaliation, Putin has ordered massive retaliation against Ukraine. Meanwhile, Sweden and Norway are preparing for war with Putin. NATO is conducting live-fire tank drills and air patrols over the Baltic Sea. Meanwhile, the United States has opened a missile base in Poland close to Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast. However, US President-Elect Donald Trump has promised that he will end the war on his first day in office. Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to hold talks with Trump regarding a truce in Ukraine.

Russia Ukraine War: Kyiv Says it will Respond to Putin's Missile Attack | Vantage on Firstpost

    ----------------------------------------

President Vladimir Putin announced the mass production of Oreshnik hypersonic missiles following their first combat use in Ukraine. The missile struck a Ukrainian defense facility in retaliation for Western-supplied weapons used against Russian territory. Putin praised the Oreshnik’s precision and advanced technology, warning the West against escalating the conflict. As Russia enhances its strategic arsenal, officials accused NATO of provoking a global missile crisis, heightening concerns over military escalation.

Oreshnik:  according to Russian president Vladimir Putin, is a Russian intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM). The missile is claimed to have a speed higher of Mach 11 (13,500 km/h; 8,370 mph; 3.74 km/s) according to the Ukrainian military, with six warheads reportedly equipped with six submunitions that makes it very difficult to intercept. Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh, described the Oreshnik as a variant of Russia's RS-26 Rubezh quasi-ballistic missile.

The progenitor for the IRBM was the A4b rocket, winged for increased range and based on the famous V-2, Vergeltung, or "Reprisal", officially called A4, rocket designed by Wernher von Braun. The V-2 was widely used by Nazi Germany at the end of World War II to bomb English and Belgian cities. The A4b was the prototype for the upper stage of the A9/A10 rocket. The goal of the program was to build a missile capable of hitting New York, when launched from France or Spain (see Amerika Bomber).

A4b rockets were tested a few times in December 1944 and January and February 1945.  All of these rockets used liquid propellant. The A4b used an inertial guidance system, while the A9 would have been controlled by a pilot. They started from a non-mobile launch pad.

Following World War II, von Braun and other lead Nazi scientists were secretly transferred to the United States, to work directly for the U.S. Army through Operation Paperclip, developing the V-2 into the weapon for the United States.

IRBMs are currently[when?] operated by the People's Republic of China, India,  Israel, North Korea,  and Russia.  The United States, USSR, Pakistan, United Kingdom, and France were former operators.

On 21 November 2024, during the Russo-Ukrainian War, the Oreshnik was first used in combat in an attack which Russia said targeted the PA Pivdenmash facility in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. Prior to confirmation of the Oreshnik's use, the strike was originally claimed by Ukraine to have been conducted using an intercontinental ballistic missile. The Oreshnik reportedly uses an MIRV payload, which was shown in unverified footage of the attack. The missile was launched from Astrakhan Oblast, likely from the Kapustin Yar training ground.

A director at the CSIS said that the missile's ability to launch multiple warheads differentiated it from other nuclear-capable missiles that had been used against Ukraine and made it extremely challenging to intercept. A Ukrainian military analyst stated that Ukraine's air defence systems are completely incapable of intercepting the missile, and that it can not be detected in its travel through the upper atmosphere. US officials note that the missile is still experimental and Russia only has a few in its possession, and that it is unlikely to be regularly deployed against Ukraine.

Remarks by President Biden and President-Elect Trump in a Meeting

    Oval Office

PRESIDENT BIDEN:  Well, Mr. President-Elect and former president —

PRESIDENT TRUMP:  Thank you very much, Joe.

PRESIDENT BIDEN:  — and — Donald, congratulations.

PRESIDENT TRUMP:  Thank you very much.

PRESIDENT BIDEN:  And looking forward to having a, like we said, smooth transition — do everything we can to make sure you’re accommodated, what you need.  And we’re going to get a chance to talk about some of that today.  So —

    PRESIDENT TRUMP:  Good.

PRESIDENT BIDEN:  — welcome.  Welcome back.

PRESIDENT TRUMP:  Thank you very much.  And thank you very much.

And politics is tough.  And it’s, many cases, not a very nice world, but it is a nice world today.  And I appreciate it very much — a transition that’s so smooth it’ll be as smooth as it can get.

And I very much appreciate that, Joe.

    PRESIDENT BIDEN:  You’re welcome.

    Thank you all.

President Biden addresses the nation after Trump's election victory

    1107ab (8).jpeg 1107ab (5).jpeg
    1107ab (7).jpeg 1107ab (6).jpeg

HE PRESIDENT:  Good morning.  (Applause.)  Good morning, good morning.  (Applause.)

Thank you.  Please.  (Applause.)  Thank you.

Good to see this Cabinet and staff together here.  (Applause.)

      Thank you.  (Applause.)

Thank you, thank you, thank you.  Please.  (Applause.)

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

It’s good to see you all.  Particularly good to see my granddaughter sitting in the front row here.  Hi, Finn.  How are you, honey?

For over 200 years, America has carried on the greatest experiment in self-government in the history of the world — and that’s not hyperbole; that’s a fact — where the people — the people vote and choose their own leaders and they do it peacefully and where, in a democracy, the will of the people always prevails.

Yesterday, I spoke with President-elect Trump to congratulate him on his victory.  And I assured him that I would direct my entire administration to work with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition.  That’s what the American people deserve.

Yesterday, I also spoke with Vice President Harris.  She’s been a partner and a public servant.  She ran an inspiring campaign, and everyone got to see something that I learned early on to respect so much: her character.  She has a backbone like a ramrod.  She has great character, true character.  She gave her whole heart and effort, and she and her entire team should be proud of the campaign they ran.

You know, the struggle for the soul of America since our very founding has always been an ongoing debate and still vital today.  I know, for some people, it’s a time for victory, to state the obvious.  For others, it’s a time of loss.

Campaigns are contests of competing visions.  The country chooses one or the other.  We accept the choice the country made.  I’ve said many times you can’t love your country only when you win.  You can’t love your neighbor only when you agree.

Something I hope we can do no matter who you voted for is see each other not as adversaries but as fellow Americans, bring down the temperature.

I also hope we can lay to rest the question about the integrity of the American electoral system.  It is honest, it is fair, and it is transparent.  And it can be trusted, win or lose.

I also hope we can restore the respect for all our election workers, who busted their necks and took risks at the outset.  We should thank them — thank them for staffing voting sites, counting the votes, protecting the very integrity of the election.  Many of them are volunteers who do it simply out of love for their country.

And as they did — as they did their duty as citizens, I will do my duty as president.  I will fulfill my oath, and I will honor the Constitution.  On January 20th, we will have a peaceful transfer of power here in America.

To all our incredible staff, supporters, Cabinet members, all the people who have been hanging out with me for the last four years — “God love you,” as my mother would say — thank you so much.

You put so much into the past four years.  I know it’s a difficult time.  You’re hurting.  I hear you, and I see you.  But don’t forget — don’t forget all that we accomplished.

It’s been a historic presidency — not because I’m president — because what we’ve done, what you’ve done — a presidency for all Americans.

Much of the work we’ve done is already being felt by the American people.  The vast majority of it will not be felt — be felt over the next 10 years.  We have a — we have legislation we passed that’s just — only now just really kicking in.

We’re going to see over a trillion dollars’ worth of infrastructure work done, changing people’s lives in rural communities and communities that are in real difficulty, because it takes time to get it done, and so much more that’s going to take time.  But it’s there.

The road ahead is clear, assuming we sustain it.  There’s so much — so much we can get done and will get done based the way the legislation was passed.  And it’s truly historic.

You know, we’re leaving behind the strongest economy in the world.  I know people are still hurting.  But things are changing rapidly.  Together, we’ve changed America for the better.

Now we have 74 days to finish the term — our term.  Let’s make every day count.  That’s the responsibility we have to the American people.

Look, folks, you all know it in your lives: Setbacks are unavoidable, but giving up is unforgivable.  Setbacks are unavoidable, but giving up is unforgivable.  We all get knocked down, but the measure of our character, as my dad would say, is how quickly we get back up.  Remember, a defeat does not mean we are defeated.  We lost this battle.

The America of your dreams is calling for you to get back up.  That’s the story of America for over 240 years and counting.  It’s a story for all of us, not just some of us.

The American experiment endures, and we’re going to be okay, but we need to stay engaged.  We need to keep going.  And above all, we need to keep the faith.

I’m so proud to have worked with all of you.  I really mean it.  I sincerely mean it.

God bless you all.  God bless America.  And may God protect our troops.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  (Applause.)

      Thanks.  Thank you.  (Applause.)

    November 6th, 2024
Vice President Kamala Harris officially conceded the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump in a speech Wednesday afternoon.

Remarks by Vice President Kamala Harris
    At

    Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Good afternoon. Thank you all. Thank you. So let me say, and I love you back, and I love you back.

So let me say, my heart is full today. My heart is full today, full of gratitude for the trust you have placed in me, full of love for our country and full of resolve. The outcome of this election is not what we wanted, not what we fought for, not what we voted for, but hear me when I say, hear me when I say, the light of America's promise will always burn bright, as long as we never give up and as long as we keep fighting.

To my beloved Doug and our family, I love you so very much. To President Biden and Dr. Biden, thank you for your faith and support. To Governor Walz and the Walz family, I know your service to our nation will continue. And to my extraordinary team, to the volunteers who gave so much of themselves. To the poll workers and the local election officials. I thank you. I thank you all.

Look, I am so proud of the race we ran and the way we ran it. Over the 107 days of this campaign, we have been intentional about building community and building coalitions, bringing people together from every walk of life and background, united by love of country, with enthusiasm and joy in our fight for America's future, and we did it with the knowledge that we all have so much more in common than what separates us.

Now, I know folks are feeling and experiencing a range of emotions right now. I get it, but we must accept the results of this election. Earlier today, I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory. I also told him that we will help him and his team with their transition, and that we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power.

A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results. That principle, as much as any other, distinguishes democracy from monarchy or tyranny, and anyone who seeks the public trust, must honor it. At the same time in our nation, we owe loyalty not to a president or a party but to the Constitution of the United States, and loyalty to our conscience and to our God.

My allegiance to all three is why I am here to say, while I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign.

The fight, the fight for freedom, for opportunity, for fairness and the dignity of all people. A fight for the ideals at the heart of our nation, the ideals that reflect America at our best. That is a fight I will never give up.

I will never give up the fight for a future where Americans can pursue their dreams, ambitions and aspirations. Where the women of America have the freedom to make decisions about their own body and not have their government telling them what to do. We will never give up the fight to protect our schools and our streets from gun violence.

And America, we will never give up the fight for our democracy, for the rule of law, for equal justice, and for the sacred idea that every one of us, no matter who we are or where we start out, has certain fundamental rights and freedoms that must be respected and upheld.

And we will continue to wage this fight in the voting booth, in the courts and in the public square. And we will also wage it in quieter ways: In how we live our lives; by treating one another with kindness and respect; by looking in the face of a stranger and seeing a neighbor; by always using our strength to lift people up to fight for the dignity that all people deserve.

The fight for our freedom will take hard work, but like I always say, we like hard work. Hard work is good work. Hard work can be joyful work. And the fight for our country is always worth it. It is always worth it.

To the young people who are watching. It is OK to feel sad and disappointed, but please know it's going to be OK. On the campaign, I would often say, when we fight, we win. But here's the thing, here's the thing, sometimes the fight takes a while. That doesn't mean we won't win. That doesn't mean we won't win.

The important thing is, don't ever give up. Don't ever give up. Don't ever stop trying to make the world a better place. You have power. You have power. And don't you ever listen when anyone tells you something is impossible because it has never been done before.

You have the capacity to do extraordinary good in the world. And so to everyone who is watching, do not despair. This is not a time to throw up our hands. This is a time to roll up our sleeves.

This is a time to organize, to mobilize and to stay engaged for the sake of freedom and justice and the future that we all know we can build together.

Look, many of you know, I started out as a prosecutor. And throughout my career, I saw people at some of the worst times in their lives. People who had suffered great harm and great pain, and yet found within themselves the strength and the courage and the resolve to take the stand, to take a stand, to fight for justice, to fight for themselves, to fight for others.

So let their courage be our inspiration. Let their determination be our charge.

And I'll close with this. There's an adage a historian once called a law of history, true of every society across the ages. The adage is, "only when it is dark enough can you see the stars." I know many people feel like we are entering a dark time, but for the benefit of us all, I hope that is not the case.

But here's the thing, America, if it is, let us fill the sky with the light of a brilliant, brilliant billion of stars, the light of optimism, of faith, of truth and service.

It's you. And may that work guide us even in the face of setbacks toward the extraordinary promise of the United States of America.

I thank you all. May God bless you and may God bless the United States of America. I thank you all.

    November 6th, 2024

Remarks by President Elect Donald J. Trump
    At
Campaign rally in West Palm Beach, Florida

    Thank you very much.
Wow. Well, I want to thank you all very much. This is great. These are our friends. We have thousands of friends in this incredible movement. This was a movement like nobody's ever seen before, and frankly, this was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time. There's ever been anything like this in this country, and maybe beyond.

And now it's going to reach a new level of importance, because we're going to help our country heal. We're going to help our country heal. We have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly. We're going to fix our borders, we're going to fix everything about our country. We made history for a reason tonight, and the reason is going to be just that.

We overcame obstacles that nobody thought possible, and it is now clear that we've achieved the most incredible political thing. Look what happened, is this crazy? But it's a political victory that our country has never seen before. Nothing like this.

I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president. And to every citizen, I will fight for you, for your family and your future. Every single day I will be fighting for you, and with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America. That's what we have to have.

This is a magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to make America great again. And in addition to having won the battleground states of North Carolina, I love these places, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. We are now winning in Michigan, Arizona, Nevada and Alaska, which would result in us carrying at least three-hundred-and-fifteen electoral votes. But it's much easier doing what the networks did, or whoever called it, because there was no other path. There was no other path to victory.

We also have won the popular vote. That was great, very proud of that. Thank you. Thank you very much. Winning the popular vote was very nice, very nice, I will tell you. A great feeling of love.

We have a great feeling of love in this very large room with unbelievable people standing by my side. These people have been incredible. They've made the journey with me and we're going to make you very happy. We're going to make you very proud of your vote. I hope that you're going to be looking back someday and say, 'That was one of the truly important moments of my life when I voted for this group of people, beyond the president, this group of great people.'

America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate. We have taken back control of the Senate, wow that's great. The Senate races in Montana, Nevada, Texas, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, were all won by the MAGA movement. They helped so much.

And in those cases, every one of them, we worked with the senators. They were tough races. And I mean, the number of victories in the Senate was absolutely incredible. And we did tele-rallies. We did tele-rallies with each one of them, and sometimes we did two or three, and it was amazing to look at all of those victories. Nobody expected that, nobody. So I just wanted to thank you very much for that. And we have, you have some great senators and some great new senators.

And it also looks like we'll be keeping control of the House of Representatives. And I want to thank Mike Johnson. I think he's doing a terrific job. Terrific job.

I want to also thank my beautiful wife, Melania. First lady, who has the number one best-selling book in the country. She has done a great job. Works very hard, works very hard to help people. So I just want to thank her.

But I want to thank my whole family, my amazing children, and they are amazing children. We all think our children, everybody here thinks their children are amazing. That's a good thing when you think they are. But Don, Eric, Ivanka, Tiffany, Barron, Lara, Jared, Kimberly, Michael, thank you all. What a help. My father-in-law, Viktor, is tremendous, and we miss very much Melania's, mother, Amalija. We miss Amalija, don't we? She would be very happy right now standing on this stage, she'd be so proud. She was a great woman, that one. Beautiful inside and out. She was a great woman.

I want to be the first to congratulate our great, now I can say vice president-elect of the United States, JD Vance, and his absolutely remarkable and beautiful wife, Usha Vance. And he is a feisty guy, isn't he? You know, I've said, go into the enemy camp. And you know, the enemy camp is certain networks. A lot of people don't like that, 'Sir, do I have to do that?' He just goes, 'OK, which one?' 'CNN, MSDNC.' He'll say, 'All right.' He's still like the only guy I've ever seen who really looks forward to it, and then he just goes in and absolutely obliterates them. Say a couple of words, JD.

     -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vice President-elect JD Vance delivers brief remarks

Thank you very much. He's turned out to be a good choice. I took a little heat at the beginning, but I knew the brain was a good one, about as good as it gets. And we love the family, and we're going to have a great four years, and we're going to turn our country around, make it something very special.

It lost that little thing called special. We're going to make this so great. It's the greatest country, and potentially the greatest country in the world by far. And right now, we're going to just work very hard to get all of that back. We're going to make it the best it's ever been. We can do that. We just had to wait longer, I don't know, it was going bad, and it was going bad fast. We're gonna have to seal up those borders, and we're gonna have to let people come into our country. We want people to come back in, but we have to let them come back in. But they have to come in legally. They have to come in legally.

Let me also express my tremendous appreciation for Susie [Wiles] and Chris [LaCivita], the job you did. Susie, come, Susie. Come here, Susie. Chris, come here, Chris. Susie likes to stay sort of in the back, let me tell you. The ice baby. We call her the ice baby. Susie likes to stay in the background. She's not in the background.

     --------------------------------------------------------

Trump campaign manager Chris LaCivita delivers brief remarks

Thank you, and thank you, Susie. I've never seen her be shy before. They're great. Everybody up here is great. Everybody up here is very special.

But..oh, let me tell you, we have a new star. A star is born, Elon. He's an amazing guy. We were sitting together tonight, you know, he spent two weeks in Philadelphia and different parts of Pennsylvania campaigning.

You know, he sent the rocket up two weeks ago, and I saw that rocket. I saw it coming down. I saw when it left it was beautiful, shiny white. When it came down, it didn't look so pretty. It was going ten thousand miles an hour and was burning like hell. I said, 'What happened to your paint job?' He said, 'We've never made a paint that could withstand that kind of heat.' But I saw it come down and turn around, and it was, you know, it's like twenty-two stories tall, by the way. It looks a little smaller than that, but it's big. And it came down and down, and you saw that fire burning. And I'm saying, 'Only Elon can do this. It must be an Elon.'

And I tell the story, I told it last night, I had a man on the phone, I had the screen muted, no sound, I was talking to a very important man, happens to be here, and that very important guy, one of the most important people in I would say the country, actually. But you know, I was president, and now it looks like I was going to be maybe president again, so I figured I could ask him to hold. So I asked him to hold and especially because you're going to be president again, they hold.

So I took the phone down, and I'm looking to screen, I'm seeing this crazy thing that's going around and coming down that looks like it's going to crash into the gantry. And I said, 'Oh no.' And I said, 'Do me a favor, do you mind holding for a couple? I want to see this.' I thought it was a space age movie or something. I put the phone down, bad part I didn't pick it up for forty-five minutes, and he was holding. But this spaceship came down, and I saw those engines firing, and it looked like it was over, it was going to smash, and then I saw the fire pour out from the left side, and I put it straight, and it came down so gently, and then it wrapped those arms around it, and it held it. And just like you hold your baby at night, your little baby, and it was a beautiful thing to see.

And I called Elon. I said, 'Elon, was that you?' He said, 'Yes, it was.' I said, 'Who else can do that? Can Russia do it?' 'No.' 'Can China do it?' 'No.' 'Can the United States do it, other than you?' 'No, nobody can do that.' I said, 'That's why I love you, Elon. That's great.'

And you know, when we had the tragic Hurricane Helene and it hit particular, hit North Carolina. They were really devastated, the water. This was a big water, as big as we've ever seen, water hurricane. It built lakes out of nothing. Fields became lakes and the danger was unbelievable. And the people from North Carolina came to me and they said, 'Would it be possible, at all possible, for you to speak to Elon Musk? We need Starlink.' I said, 'What's Starlink?' 'It's a form of communication.' So I called Elon and I'll tell you what he had. And it was very dangerous. People were dying. They had no communication. All the wires were down.

I called Elon Musk. I said, Elon, 'You have something called Starlink. Is that, right?' 'Yes, I do.' 'What the hell is it?' He said, 'It's a communication system that's very good.' I said, 'Elon, they need it really, really badly in North Carolina. Can you get it?' He had that there so fast. It was incredible, so and it was great. It saved a lot of lives. He saved a lot of lives. But he's a character. He's a special guy. He's a super genius. We have to protect our geniuses. We don't have that many of them. We have to protect our super geniuses.

I want to thank, you know we have up here today, the U.S. Open champion. He's a fantastic golfer. Hits a ball a little bit longer than me, just a little bit. Bryson DeChambeau is up here someplace. What happened to Bryson? Where is he? Bryson? He's hitting balls. Oh, he's on the way. He's hitting balls. Bryson, oh look at him. He's got a great career going. Great U.S. Open, Bryson. That's a fantastic job.

And we also have a man, Dana White, who has done some job. He's a tough guy. So Dana started UFC and came to me, nobody wanted to give him a ring, because they said it's a rough sport, a little rough. And I helped him out a little bit. And I went and I said, 'This is the roughest sport I've ever seen.' But I began to like it, and he loved it. And nobody's done a better job in sports. And you know, he's a very motivational kind of a guy, what he does. He gets these fighters and they really go at it, and it's become one of the most successful sports enterprises anywhere, at any time. It's doing so well. I'd like to ask Dana just to say a couple of words, because people love to hear from him.

UFC president Dana White delivers brief remarks

That is a piece of work. No, he's an amazing, he's really an amazing guy. But most of all, I want to thank the millions of hard-working Americans across the nation who have always been the heart and soul of this really great movement. We've been through so much together, and today you showed up in record numbers to deliver a victory like really probably no other, this was something special.

And we're going to pay you back. We're going to do the best job. We're going to turn it around. It's got to be turned around. It's got to be turned around fast. And we're going to turn it around. We're going to do it in every way, with so many ways, but we're going to do it in every way. This will forever be remembered as the day the American people regained control of their country.

So I just want to say that on behalf of this great group of people, these are hard-working people, these are fantastic people, and we can add a few names, like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and he's going to help make America healthy again.

And he's a great guy, and he really means it. He wants to do some things, and we're going to let him go to it. I just said, 'But Bobby, leave the oil to me. We have more liquid gold, oil and gas. We have more liquid gold than any country in the world, more than Saudi Arabia. We have more than Russia. Bobby, stay away from the liquid gold. Other than that, go have a good time, Bobby.'

We're going to be paying down debt. We're going to be reducing taxes. We can do things that nobody else can do. Nobody else is going to be able to do it. China doesn't have what we have. Nobody has what we have, but we have the greatest people also. Maybe that's the most important thing.

This campaign has been so historic in so many ways. We've built the biggest, the broadest, the most unified coalition. They've never seen anything like it in all of American history. They've never seen any young and old men and women, rural and urban, and we had them all helping us tonight. When you think, I mean, I was looking at it, I was watching it, they had some great analysis of the people that voted for us. Nobody's ever seen anything like. They came from all corners, union, non-union, African-American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American, Arab-American, Muslim-American. We had everybody and it was beautiful.

It was a historic realignment, uniting citizens of all backgrounds around a common core of common sense. You know, we're the party of common sense. We want to have borders. We want to have security. We want to have things be good, safe. We want great education. We want a strong and powerful military, and ideally we don't have to use it. You know, we had no wars. Four years, we had no wars except we defeated ISIS. We defeated ISIS in record time, but we had no wars. They said, 'He will start a war.' I'm not going to start a war, I'm going to stop wars.

But this is also a massive victory for democracy and for freedom. Together, we're going to unlock America's glorious destiny. We're going to achieve the most incredible future for our people. Yesterday, as I stood at my last stop on the campaign trail, I'll never be doing a rally again, can you believe it? I think we've done nine-hundred rallies approximately, can you imagine? Nine-hundred, nine-hundred-and-one, something, a lot of rallies.

And it was sad. Everybody was sad, many people. I said, 'This is our last rally, but now we're going on to something that's far more important, because the rallies were used for us to be put in this position where we can really help our country.' That's what we're going to do. We're going to make our country better than it ever has been. I said that many people have told me that God spared my life for a reason, and that reason was to save our country and to restore America to greatness, and now we are going to fulfill that mission together. We're going to fulfill that mission.

The task before us will not be easy, but I will bring every ounce of energy, spirit and fight that I have in my soul to the job that you've entrusted to me. This is a great job. There's no job like this. This is the most important job in the world. Just as I did in my first term, we had a great first term, a great, great first term. I will govern by a simple motto, promises made, promises kept. We're going to keep our promises. Nothing will stop me from keeping my word to you, the people, we will make America safe, strong, prosperous, powerful and free again.

And I'm asking every citizen all across our land to join me in this noble and righteous endeavor. That's what it is. It's time to put the divisions of the past four years behind us. It's time to unite, and we're going to try. We're going to try. We have to try, and it's going to happen. Success will bring us together, I've seen that. I've seen that. I saw that in the first term, when we became more and more successful, people started coming together. Success is going to bring us together, and we are going to start by all putting America first.

We have to put our country first for at least a period of time. We have to fix it, because together, we can truly make America great again for all Americans. So I want to just tell you what a great honor this is. I want to thank you. I will not let you down. America's future will be bigger, better, bolder, richer, safer and stronger than it has ever been before. God bless you and God bless America.

Thank you very much.  Thank you very much.

The electoral votes are counted in a joint session of Congress in early January (on January 6 as required by 3 U.S. Code, Chapter 1, or an alternative date set by statute), and if the ballots are accepted without objections, the presidential and vice-presidential candidates winning at least 270 electoral votes—a majority of the total number of electoral votes—are certified as having won the election by the incumbent vice president, in their capacity as president of the Senate. If no presidential candidate reaches the 270-vote threshold, the election for the president is decided by the House of Representatives in a run-off contingent election. Similarly, if no vice-presidential candidate reaches that threshold, the election for the vice president is decided by the Senate.
