Pope Leo XIV was elected pope in the 2025 conclave on
May 8, 2025, following the death of Pope Francis.

    Vatican Cardinal:

We have a pope. The first American pope, has been elected Cardinal Prevost.

The first American pope in history.

Chicago born has been elected as the 267th successor of Saint Peter.

Cardinal Prevost was the leader of the Vatican's office

for the Castries bishops, the Vatican City Council for bishops.

He is, someone who spent many years, as bishop in Peru, as a missionary

in Peru. He is Bishop of Chiclayo.

In Peru, He was the leader of the Augustinian Order, which is a worldwide religious order.

He, is known as an experienced and wise leader who can bring together people from, different points of view.

I can see the Cardinal Cupich from Chicago, who looks quite happy with the news.

This is really, an extraordinary moment.

This is an extraordinary moment. And.

Of course, I sit here as an American, whatever it would have been.

I think you can't be. But moved to tears.

But this is stunning, Leo. The 14th. Leo.

    Now that's significant.

Pope Leo the 13th, a pope of Catholic

social teaching of Catholic social doctrine.

A pope who stood up for workers, a pope

on the side of the poor and Cardinal Prevost.

Pope Leo the 14th, I should say, has chosen that name.

    That is a big statement.

    That is really an extraordinary,

    extraordinary moment.

We all thought people were thinking it was going to be an Italian

    with the front runner.

But as we said, as I reported, an American was not ruled out.

They were looking at an American. You were saying this was possible?

It was only today when it moved as fast as it moved,

that everyone said, well, it must be an Italian,

but let's just say this again.

Cardinal Robert proposed now Pope Leo the 14th is an American,

currently cardinal from Chicago and is now the first American pope

    in history.

Let's watch Leo the 14th coming out.

    Peace be with you all.

    Pope Leo VIX:

    My dearest brothers and sisters.

This is the first greetings of the resurrected Christ, the good Shepherd who has gave up

giving up his life for God.

And I should also like this greeting of peace to enter our hearts

and your families, and to all those people,

wherever they are, at all peoples throughout the world.

Peace be with you.  This is the peace of the resurrected Christ.

a humble and perseverant peace which comes from God.

God who loves us all unconditionally.

Let us keep in our ears the weak voice of Pope Francis that blesses Rome.

the Pope who blessed Rome, gave his blessing

to the world, to the entire world.

    That morning of Easter.

Allow me to follow up on that blessing.

God loves us. God loves everyone.

    Evil will not prevail.

We are all in the hands of God,

Therefore, without fear, united hand in hand with God

and amongst ourselves, let us go forward.

We are the disciples of Christ that Christ goes before us on you.

The world needs his light.  Humanity needs him, right?

Like the bridge to God and his love.

Help us and all others to build bridges with dialog with meeting to be one

common. People living always in peace.

    Thank you to Pope Francis.

I should also like to thank Cardinal all my Cardinal brethren

who have chosen me to be the successor of Peter, and to walk with you as a united church,

always seeking peace and justice, seeking to work with

men and women who are faithful to Jesus Christ

without fear, to proclaim the gospel, to be missionaries.

I am a son of Saint Augustine, Augustinian.

who said, Sono Cristiano with you.

I am a Christian, and for you a bishop.

And I think in that sense, we can all walk together.

To that.  Homeland, that home which God has prepared for us.

to the church of Rome, a very special greeting.

We have to seek together to be a missionary church,

a church that builds bridges and dialog,

    always ready to accept.

Like this great piazza with its arms.

We have to show our charity presence and be in dialog with love.

And I'd also like to say a greeting in Spanish to all those who particularly,

and particularly to my dearest beloved that diocese in Peru

where a faithful people So these people accompanied their bishop

to share their faith with him, and, who has done so

much to, be a faithful church to all you.

Brothers and Sisters of Rome, of Italy, of the entire world is, we must be a Senator church,

one which goes forward and which always seeks peace.

Charity, and to be close to those who suffer.

This is the day of the supplication

    to the Madonna of Pompei.

Mother Mary always wanted to accompany us and be near us.

To help us with her love.

And I should like to therefore pray together with you.

Let us pray for this new mission.

For the entire church and for peace in the world.

And let us ask for this special grace from Mary, our God, Maria Grazia.

    Hail Mary, full of grace.

    You are blessed

    amongst all women and blessed

be the fruit of your womb.

    Holy Mary,

    pray for us sinners today

and be present at the hour of our death.

    Amen!

    HONORING THE MEMORY OF
    HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS

    April 21, 2025

By the President of the United States of America

    A Proclamation

As a mark of respect for the memory of His Holiness Pope Francis, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, on the day of interment.  I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-first day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-five, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.

                                   DONALD J. TRUMP

According to Vatican, HOLY SEE PRESS OFFICE SUMMARY OF BULLETIN, dated April 23rd, 2025

In accordance with ancient custom, for nine consecutive days particular celebrations of the Eucharist will be held in memory of the deceased Roman Pontiff, starting with the funeral Mass.

These celebrations are open to all. However, each day they will involve the participation of a different group, taking into account its links with the Roman Pontiff. This variety of assemblies shows, in a certain way, both the scope of the ministry of the Supreme Pastor and the universality of the Church of Rome (cf. Ordo Exsequiarum Romani Pontificis, nos. 124-125).

The funeral Mass of the Roman Pontiff Francis, the first day of the Novendiali, will take place on 26 April 2025 at 10.00, on the parvis of Saint Peter’s Basilica.

In the subsequent days, the celebrations of the Novendiali in memory of the late Pope will continue as follows:

2nd day: Sunday 27 April, at 10.30, on the parvis of the Vatican Basilica: employees and faithful of Vatican City State.
