Federal Way Public Academy is unique and accelerated level of the curriculum, but it is in the combination of the depth of course presentation, the intensity of the instruction, the interaction of motivated students using the Socratic seminar style, the access to technology used as a tool for communication, and the high expectations for all student learning shared by the faculty.

Oktoberfest was held on November 6, 2004 by PTA, FWPA. Oktoberfest committee members were Nancy Papineau (Chair), Sandra Englund (Co-Chair), Dennis O'Neil, Katy Kelly, Lori Heric, and Barb Churchwell. The purpose of Oktoberfest was to get PTA members together , Teachers, and School District Board Members, make friendship and develop their relationship. It was quite an event and could see the development of great relationships between teachers, PTA, and School District Board.

The Former FWPA Principal, Dr. Ray Griffin flew from New Mexico and played Saxophone with the band WICKERMAN. The music was excellent. People could not stop dancing and singing. Everyone enjoyed the evening. Principal Kurt Lauer showed his talent by lip singing "Oh when the Saints Go Marching In" lead by Sandra Englund. The audiences raved .....In the mean time, a breakfast with Dr. Ray Griffin was auctioned off. When the bidding was over, Federal Way School District Director: Charlie Hoff won by bidding $160. Dennis and Susan O'neil facilitated their beach house to have a breakfast with Dr. Ray Griffin. The Continuous raffle and gave away many prizes. Singing and dancing was non stop until the Oktoberfest event was completed.

The Oktoberfest committees team spirit throughout this event. It is positive to see so special, memorable, and successful.
