Farewell Ceremony for Consul General; Jae Gouk Kim was given at the Highline
Community College in February 25, 2006 at 6:00 PM.
Sponsored by Korean American Association of Tacoma and Seattle. Many Korean
American Community leaders attended this ceremony.
There were about 150 people community leaders and Business leaders attended
this ceremony. This was one of the 3 other ceremonies for his farewell ceremony.
City of Mayor Michael Park presented special award for his dedication and appreciation
during 2003 to 2006 for Seattle, Washington.
Appreciation award by Mayor of Tacoma, Bill Baarsma read by KWA Board, Korean
American Association of Tacoma Board, OK Soon Wilson.
Also KWA president Yon Chong Elgelbach presented appreciation award to Consul
General, Jae Gouk Kim.
Special Farewell solo was given by Sandra Englund "Oh Danny Boy in Korean
and English".
Also Sandra Englund presented 100 photo slides of Consul General Jae Gouk Kim's
activities during farewell ceremony dinner.
He served Washington State for three years during year 2003 to 2006. He made
so much difference in Washington among Korean American Society,
organizations, communities, and businesses. During his presence in Washington,
9.11 was happened and Washington economic was very low and
many companies had to lay off so many people include 35,000 lay off from the
Boeing Company.
Consul General Jae Gouk Kim, have devoted to support any situation that would
support economic in Washington
for the Korean American Trade processes and support Washington.
During his presence, Korean Air ordered 10 Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 10 more
options. He was very please that he was able to support whatever it takes.
Consul General Jae Gouk Kim was hoping to support Asiana Airline to order 787
Dreamliner as well while his presence, but he expressed that
he is hoping to see Asiana Airline to order 787 Dreamliner someday as well although
he is not in the presence in Washington after February 27, 2006.
He also expressed that we enjoyed support Washington for Korean American citizens,
communities and businesses.
He made remark that it is very hard to leave after great friendship and kindness
and wonderful people in Washington and he will miss Washington.
He will never forget Washington and he is hoping to coming back to some day.
This ceremony was emotional and wonderful ceremony. Many people addressed that
they will miss him very much.
He was very popular among Korean American, his modest, kindness, wonderful work
ethic, and his dedication
will be remained in our heart forever in Washington, Korean American's......

A new Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Gyon Chan Ho will be arriving
in SEATAC airport at 10:20 AM, March 3rd, 2006.
There will be welcoming greetings for him at SEATAC Airport , SEOUL ROOM, 2nd
floor, 10:20 AM, March 3rd, 2006.
