Remembering 911 (2001 to 2011)

On August 30th, 2011, South King Fire & Rescue hosted Remembering 911 Ceremony for 10th Anniversary in Station 62 at 2:00 PM, Federal Way, WA to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice on that tragic day along with South King Fire & Rescue Lieutenant Scott Mahlen and Firefighter Sven Schievink delivered steel beam which was from New York, the World Trade Center destroyed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The flag didn’t give up and spangled at the 9.11 disaster place. Yet, It flew over 6000 miles from pentagon and still proud to show the flag in Federal Way, proudly opened flag during the ceremony and folded in silent and dedicated to honor and remember the 2,977 lives that were lost in year 2001, 9, 11. The flag was received by South King Fire and Rescue Chief/Administrator Allen D. Church (Al)  and  the flag to Board Chair fire commissioners, Bill Gate from the fire fighters after the flag was folded in ceremony and honor the heroes those of who sacrificed and died in 2001 caused by terrors attack. The moment of silent with the flag folding ceremony was moved people was emotional for all of us which we will never forget 911 attack by the terrors that was given night mare to all of us.

Year 2001, 9-11, total 2,997 people, including the hijackers, died in the attacks. The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on board and many others working in the buildings. Both buildings collapsed within two hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others. The hijackers crashed a third airliner into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. The fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville in rural Pennsylvania, after some of its passengers and flight crew attempted to retake control of the plane, which the hijackers had redirected toward Washington, D.C. There were no survivors from any of the flights.

A new office tower was completed on the site of 7 World Trade Center in year 2006. The 1 World Trade Center is still under construction at 1,776 ft (541 m) it is scheduled to be completed in 2011, this building will be one of the tallest buildings in North America.
