Mrs. Dorothy Emma Howell Rodham (born June 4, 1919 - November 1, 2011), she passed away on November 1, 2011 at age of 92 years old. She was an American homemaker and mother of Secretary of State, and former United States Senator, First Lady, Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton had cancelled earlier scheduled trips to London and Turkey to be by the side of her 92-year-old mother, when she had fallen ill.
Mrs. Dorothy Emma Howell Rodham was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Edwin John Howell, Jr. (1897–1946), a Chicago firefighter, and Della Murray (1902–1960). Her sister is Isabelle Howell (born 1924).
She became a full-time homemaker, raising three children, Hillary, Hugh and Tony in suburban Park Ridge, Illinois. She encouraged Secretary of State, Hillary to have a love for learning and to pursue an education and a career. Her husband Hugh Ellsworth Rodham (April 2, 1911 – April 7, 1993) who was British immigrants descended and was an American textile wholesaler.
