Calendar Poster Contest Awards Ceremony

June 9th, 2011, 6:30 PM
Lakehaven Center, Federal Way, WA

Posters submitted approximately 584 from 15 elementary schools (All children received a bag of gifts and thank you from the district) also award winner teachers and Principals each school received collection of poster calendars for their fundraiser event.  Judges were: Sandra Englund, Bonnie Nowicki, Jan Gilbson, Patti Muller, Faye McClain.  Special Guests were participated for the special award event:  City of Federal Way Mayor, Skip Priest, Council member, Jack Dovey , School Board Director, Suzanne Smith and the winner students and their families and friends in addition, their teachers and school principals.

Award Presented by:  Commissioner Board president Ron Nowicki, and commissioners: Len Englund, Charles Gibson, Tim McClain, and Don Miller.  

The first winner was Navarro, Dianna who is 5th grade, 11 years old goes Wildwood school in Federal Way and her poster describes that “Save Water” A Clean Water is a happy earth” “Don’t Pollute” the most students came up similar theme including 12 other winners who were received all same prizes

Lakehaven Utility Distric is located between Seattle and Tacoma in King and Pierce Counties. The District provides service within most of the City of Federal Way and small portions of the cities of Auburn, Pacific, Tacoma, Des Moines and Milton which serves population of approximately 112,000 people and provided service to the Federal Way area for more than 50 years. The water system includes 400 miles of mainline, 22 wells and 12 storage tanks with an approximate storage capacity of 31 million gallons. The average daily pumping rate is about 10.6 million gallons per day (MGD).

Lakehaven’s mission is to manage the resources of the Lakehaven utility district. To provide high quality drinking water and collection and treatment of wastewater. To meet or exceed all applicable state and Federal Standards at the lowest long term reasonable coast, consistent with industry standards.
