Senator, Maria Cantwell addresed that we need to encourage, not stifle, our innovation economy, by promoting research and development and boosting existing fields like composites manufacturing and biotechnology, and encouraging emerging industries, like nanotechnology. She mentioned that we need to do more to help two important pillars of our economy: trade and small business.
