The
European Commission (EC) should have a new agreement to replace
the 1992 U.S.-E.U. Agreement on Large Civil Aircraft. The agreement
should places limits to one-third the costs
of developing a new aircraft.
The
United States and Europe share a trillion dollar economic relationship,
and have worked closely on many trade fronts in recent years,
most importantly on mutual efforts to advance trade liberalization
efforts in the Doha negotiations. Both parties recognize the appropriateness
of using the WTO process to resolve trade disputes. (8)
Airbus
needs to stop excusing $3 billion in tax breaks to build its 787
in Washington State.
If the resources supporting is the problem. What about the 1992
agreement was negotiated, Airbus accounted for only about 30 percent
of the global market. It now
represents more than 50 percent of this market. Clearly, the 1992
agreement has outlived its usefulness.(8) It is absolutely unfair
for the Boeing Company and for other industries for a long time.......Heavens,
more than 29 years of Long Time EU subsidies......Definetely,
needs some economic healing process.....for the Boeing Company
and around the world........global reaction.......
Airbus
and European Union leaders should end unfair subsidies issue.
These issue are getting more serious problem and like what Senator
Murray's remarks "Unfortunately, Europe has never taken these
talks or this issue seriously," Murray said. "Our willingness
to seek a negotiated settlement has been greeted by more arrogant
entitlement from Airbus and its European backers. While publicly
committed to negotiations, Airbus and European leaders have been
working behind the scenes to continue subsidies to Airbus in spite
of U.S. threats to file a WTO case." (1)
Under
a bilateral agreement between the United States and the European
Union, Airbus can receive up to a third of the development costs
for a new jet from European governments.
Speaking of
a bilateral agreement the United States and the European Union,
President George Bush just attended
a bilateral meeting, Presidents George W. Bush and Jacques Chirac
of France, and President George W. Bush delivered a foreign policy
speech at the Concert Noble Ballroom, Brussels, Belgium, and attended
the NATO Summit, in Brussels, Belgium, Monday, Feb. 21, 2005.
I thought President George bush was diplomatic and made relationship
stronger between Europe and U.S.A.
It
is something that I can related with President George Bushe's
Remarks in Brussels Belgium, February
21, 2005:
"Today,
America and Europe face a moment of consequence and opportunity.
Together we can once again set history on a hopeful course --
away from poverty and despair, and toward development and the
dignity of self-rule; away from resentment and violence, and toward
justice and the peaceful settlement of differences. Seizing this
moment requires idealism: We must see in every person the right
and the capacity to live in freedom. Seizing this moment requires
realism: We must act wisely and deliberately in the face of complex
challenges. And seizing this moment also requires cooperation,
because when Europe and America stand together, no problem can
stand against us." (3)
If
this great statement does not mean anything to stop EU subsidies,
we sure do have some serious concern. What
is this mean to Europe and America stand together?
"President George W. Bush( in May 7,
2001) pursued The United States and the
European Union share the largest bilateral trade and investment
relationship in the world, accounting for over $1.5 trillion.
In order to ensure that this critically important economic relationship
continues to thrive, President Bush and his EU counterparts established
in 2002 the "Positive Economic Agenda" to advance bilateral cooperation
to reduce trade frictions and foster expanded transatlantic commerce.
(7) I
am sure these numbers has grown over the years.....
As
what President George Bush says in
Brussels, Belgium, Monday, Feb. 21, 2005
"We
must act wisely and deliberately in the face of complex challenges.
And seizing this moment also requires cooperation, because when
Europe and America stand together, no problem can stand against
us."(3)
I can relate this statement to stop European Union subsidies,
too..........
President
George met with European Union President Jean-Claude while at
the NATO Summit in Brussels Tuesday, Feb 22, 2005,
President George Bush addressed that "
We
have established is that, as so often in our past, if we work
together, if we pull our strengths, we as Europeans and Americans,
can make the difference"
President Bush emphasized that the European
Union work out whatever differences there are and become a continued,
viable, strong partner. It's in our interests for commercial
reasons; we trade a lot. And I talked about the need to continue
trade and to work out our disputes in a sensible way.
President
Putin even mentioned that they are engaged in a constructive political
dialogue, and discovering new opportunities for joint business,
cultural, and scientific initiatives. President Putin even thank
the President of the United States for the serious message that
his negotiators noticed in the course of negotiations, a message
aimed at resolving all the problems that stand in the way of Russia's
accession to the WTO. He addressed that not only Russian economy,
but also the U.S. economy are interested in the positive outcome.
(4)
February
24, 2005, President and Slovakian Prime Minister Dzurinda Discussed
foreign Policy and appreciated presenting the basic orientation
of their foreign policy and the role of the United States, doing
a lot of things in the world. He stated that U.S. President is
really very strong and courageous leader. President Bush appreciated
to the Prime Minister for his vision on foreign policy.(5)
Here
is what President Barroso said during EU leaders meeting "on
behalf of the European Commission, that the visit of President
Bush is really a very, very important one.
Europe and America have reconnected. This visit has highlighted
all that unites Europe and America; it has focused the eyes of
the world on all that we share. I believe that the relationship
between the United States and Europe is the world's strongest,
most comprehensive and strategically important partnership. The
United States, a united Europe, this is really the indispensable
partnership." also he mentioned that "we must
try, and I believe that together we will prevail."
"Europe
knows that; the United States knows that. Even working together,
it's not sure that we will solve these problems because of their
magnitude. But we must try, and I believe that together we will
prevail. The reality is that the world is
safer and more prosperous when Europe and America work together
as global partners."
President
Barroso also addresed that The United States and Europe are the
two largest economies in the world. They are determined to deepen
the transatlantic economic partnership.
Trade and investment are the bedrock of
transatlantic relations. We want to build on this. (6)
It
is positive to see the positive output and great statements from
the European Union Leaders: strength and global partners, the
bedrock of transatlantic relations, and want to build strong relations
with Europe and United States. Hope all of these comes an ACTION
LIKE REAL WORLD LEADERS. Hope all these great statements keep
as an action and show to the world as what they say. It
is our hope and prayer that LONG TIME UNFAIR SUBSIDIES RESOLVE
CONSTRUCTIVE WAY AND MAKE IT FAIR GLOBAL MARKET FOR THE BOEING
COMAPNY AND For ALL.....Hopefully,
the world will see no more EU Subsidies....and U.S and the world
will see the harmonized fair global market.
