Back in September 5, 2005: President Hu Jintao of China was planning to visit washington, but due to Hurricane KATRINA. President Hu Jintao of China sent sympathies of the Chinese people on the hardships suffered by Americans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to President Bush And revisited September 13, 2005.(3)(4)

Office of Governor Christine Gregoire FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - February 17, 2006 Revision March 22nd, 2006, OLYMPIA - Governor Chris Gregoire will host Chinese President Hu Jintao in Washington State in April. President Hu will visit the state at Governor Gregoire’s request. (2)

Governor Chris Gregoire is very much delighted to host President Hu and will giving him a warm welcome in our wonderful Washington State. Governor Gregoire said “Washington is the most trade dependent state in the nation and many Washington companies have a strong presence in China.”

According to Governor Gregoire's statement, she received confirmation from Consul General Peng Keyu of the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco that President Hu had accepted her invitation to stop in Washington state on his way to Washington, D.C. The dates are not yet confirmed, but President Hu will visit Boeing and Microsoft.

China is very important to Washington State,
China is Washington’s third largest export market - Washington State shipped $3.1 billion in products to China in 2004 – and exports include wheat, apples, pulp, leather hides, medical instruments and Boeing aircraft. Washington is the only state with two trade offices in China, located in Guangzhou and Shanghai.

Per communication with Brent Heinemann, Office of the Governor on March 27, 2006, Chinese President Hu Jintao has picked April 18th and 19th for a visit to Washington state.

The dates are not yet confirmed, but President Hu will visit Boeing and Microsoft.
Governor Gregoire and the First Gentleman will greet the president at the airport and will host an official state dinner for him. This will be President Hu’s first trip to Washington State.

It is positive to see that Washington State and China has a great relationship and Gary Locke was elected Washington's 21st governor on Nov. 5, 1996, making him the first Chinese-American Governor in U.S. history. On Nov. 7, 2000, Locke, was reelected to his second term.

Chinese President Hu will enjoy visiting Washington State, it will be his memoriable visit to friendly and a wonderful Washington State.
