The Korean Day Bill 5166 passed and Signed by Governor Chris Gregoire
Asian Americans are the 2nd fastest growing minority group in Washington. Sen. Paull Shin, D-Edmonds, the first and only Korean-American legislator in the state's history, introduced a bill that would celebrate the accomplishments of Washington's Korean-Americans by designating Jan 13 as a non-legal holiday. February 23rd, 2007, it unanimously passed the Senate and Today Signed by Governor Chris Gregoire witnessed by, Senator Paull Shin, Consul General, Kwon Chan Ho, Korean American President of Tacoma Lee Jong Joo, Korean American President of Seattle, Kim Ke Hyen, Korean Women's Association Board Chair Jong Dameron, KWA President Sandra Englund and KWA Board Members and KAC Board members, and Many other Community Leaders.....

Governor Chris Gregoire singed this bill, It is historic moment and It is the first introduce to the Washington State and recognizing the cultural and economic achievements made by Washington’s Korean-Americans. Many community leaders celebrated this moment appreciated the Washington State officials and many volunteer workers who contributed this bill to pass Special thanks to Ellen Abellera, executive director for the state’s Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs, wholeheartedly supports the bill which will designate every Jan. 13 as Korean-American Day.

It is a wonderful day and thanks to the Washington State Senators, Senator Paull Shin, Officials, Ellen Abellera, executive director for the state’s Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs, Governor Chris Gregoire and the Community Leaders who supported on this and Most of All, Washington State, U.S.A.
