July 17, 2009, ESPY, the Annual Sports Awards presentation was given at the Nokia Theatre led by American Actor Samuel L. Jackson. During the ESPY 2009 Award, President Obama proudly introduced " Arthur Ashes Courage Award to Zindzi Mandela, daughter of Nelson Mandela to accepting this award for Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. President Obama said that "Nelson Mandela made the sports from Impossible to possible". President Obama addressed that he is poudly introducing for his Humble courage and his inspiration, his great spirit and his great leadership. President Obama also appreicated to his daughter Zindzi Mandela and his grandson Zondwa Mandela to accepting Nelson Mandela's Authur Ashes Courage Award. President Obama made special remarks about Mandela's courages during South Africa hosted the 1995 Rugby World Cup. He encouraged black South Africans to get behind the previously hated Springboks (the South African national rugby team) After the Springboks won an epic final over New Zealand, Mandela presented the trophy to captain Francois Pienaar, an Afrikaner, wearing a Springbok shirt with Pienaar's own number 6 on the back. This was widely seen as a major step in the reconciliation of white and black South Africans. Nelson Mandela has received Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and also received more than 100 awards. Nelson Mandela is a former President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. The South African courts convicted him on charges of sabotage, as well as other crimes committed while he led the movement against apartheid. Nelson Mandela served 27 years in prison when his daughter Zindzi was only 18 months old. Nelson Mandela spending many of these years on Robben Island, Zindzi mandela was able to see him when she was 15 years old. Nelson Mandela is now currently a celebrated elder statesman who continues to voice his opinion on topical issues. In South Africa he is often known as Madiba, an honorary title adopted by elders of Mandela's clan. The title has come to be synonymous with Nelson Mandela. Since his retirement, one of Mandela's primary commitments has been to the fight against AIDS. He helped and supported many charity events for AIDS fund raising. His son, Makgatho Mandela, died of AIDS on 6 January 2005. Mandela's AIDS activism is chronicled in Stephanie Nolen's book. The Arthur Ashe Courage Award is an award that is part of the ESPY Awards. It may looks sport-oriented award but it is not limited to sports-related people or actions. His leadership and inspiration will continue to make the differences for the world and He is a father to everyone like what Zindzi Mandela, daughter of Nelson Mandela says.
