Announcement
The
Korean Women's Association (KWA) is seeking a proven, energetic
leader to serve as its next Executive Director. The agency
has an extremely dedicated Board and Staff who are deeply
committed to its mission. The new Executive Director will
have the opportunity to lead the agency in continuing its
growth and service to the community by providing a broad
range of social services to its clients.
Introduction
to the Organization
The
Korean Women's Association (KWA) of Washington has emerged
as Pierce County's leader in innovative programs designed
to enhance the quality of life for Asian Pacific Islanders
and other minority citizens in the Northwest.
KWA
is a registered nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, established
in 1972 to provide services to Korean wives of American
servicemen. Today, KWA offers a multi-faceted program of
services, tailored to multi-cultural, multi-lingual, and/or
limited English-speaking Asian immigrants and Pacific Islanders,
and since 1987, available to the general public, in Pierce,
King Snohomish, Thurston, Lewis, Mason, Clallam, Jefferson,
Grays Harbor, Cowlitz, Clark and Pacific Counties.
KWA
offers the best in ethnic-based programming, providing children
through seniors the opportunity for socialization and integration
with people of similar interests, backgrounds, and languages.
For people outside of the ethnic community, our specialized
programming teaches about ethnicity and Asian-Pacific cultures
and customs.

KWA's Mission is: To provide multi-cultural, multi-lingual
social and human services to underserved populations and
advocate respect to all.

The
Position
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors.
The Board guides the mission, strategic direction and policies
of the agency.
The Executive Director oversees the agency's services in
all program areas. Additionally, he/she is expected to be
involved in advocacy initiatives in support of community
social service issues at the local, state, and national
levels.
The Executive Director is responsible for an annual budget
of $20.6 million and more than 1000 employees. The agency
is fiscally sound and has significant real estate and other
assets.
