to deploy the assets necessary to get the situation under control,
to get the help to the people who have been affected, and he is planning
to help rebuild the communities that have been affected. President Bush thanked President Hu for the sympathies of the Chinese people on the hardships suffered by Americans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Both Presidents agreed that, in the present circumstances, it was best not to have a meeting in Washington next week; and they agreed to reschedule the visit of President Hu to another mutually convenient time. They agreed to meet in New York on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly later this month. The President George Bush Directed Federal Agencies Throughout The Government To Do All In Their Power To Assist The Victims Of Hurricane Katrina. The top priority is to save and sustain lives. On August 31, 2005, President Bush convened a Cabinet-level task force on Hurricane Katrina response and recovery. Residents of the Gulf Coast states affected by the hurricane have lost loved ones, lost homes, and been displaced from their communities, and they will have the full support of the Federal government. President George Bush signed legislation in the Oval Office Friday, Sept. 2nd 2005 to provide 10.5 billion dollars in relief aid for the areas along the Gulf Coast affected by Hurricane Katrina.
