According to KTTH 770 AM, More than 5000 people and many dignitaries welcomed and greeted Chinese President Hu Jintao along with flag-waving crowd at Paine Field in Everett in April 18, 2006.

It is the first time to Washington States for Chinese President Hu Jintao although Chinese and Washington have been kept great relationship for a long time trade..

According to seattlepi.com dated April 19, 2006, Gov. Christine Gregoire emerged from an afternoon meeting with Hu clearly buoyed. Gregoire said she asked him to consider opening a trade office in this state, hosting a Pacific Rim health care meeting and boosting education ties.

"He's very proud of the very warm friendship and warm relationship between China and Washington state," she said. President Hu responded that "the trade partners share common interests in science, technology and education."

Chinese President Hu later toured part of Microsoft's Redmond campus, walking in on a red carpet to loud applause from employees. He praised the company for its technological innovations, promised that China would fulfill its recent promises to combat software piracy, and encouraged Microsoft to boost its investment and involvement in China. President Hu "I certainly look forward to the extension of your cooperation with China," Hu told Gates, according to an Associated Press pool report.

After Chinese President Hu departed Paine Field in a caravan of limousines, Mulally told reporters that he was looking forward to introducing Hu to Boeing employees during a tour today.

"The more you get to know each other, the more you find in common," Mulally said. He described simply what China and the United States have in common: "economic development."

China ordered 60 787 Dreamliner and Boeing Co signed the general purchase agreement in April 11, 2006 with China Aviation Supplies Import and Export Group for 80 Boeing Next-Generation 737 airplanesThe 80 airplanes in the agreement combine with 70 airplanes agreed to in November 2005 to complete a planned 150-airplane purchase. The first 50 of those Next-Generation 737 airplanes were booked in December 2005 with an additional 20 booked in January 2006.

According to Boeing 2005 Current Market Outlook (CMO) for the People's Republic of China today, forecasting a requirement in China for just over 2,600 new airplanes worth $213 billion over the next 20 years. Over the forecast period, China is and will remain the largest market outside the United States for new commercial airplanes.

With the continued high rate of growth for the China air travel and air cargo markets, China's fleet will nearly quadruple to more than 3,200 airplanes by the end of the forecast period. Single-aisle aircraft, such as the Boeing 737, will be the largest category with total new-airplane deliveries at 1,678 airplanes. Intermediate twin-aisles such as the Boeing 787 and 777s will comprise approximately 568 airplanes, while regional jets will be 293 units and 747 and larger-size airplanes will be 73 units.

Boeing projects air travel growth will outpace China's Gross Domestic Product increase during the forecast period. Air travel for China's carriers will expand significantly, led by the domestic market's average annual growth of 8.8 percent. This incredible growth will nearly quadruple China's airplane fleet over the next 20 years. Air travel for all markets to, from and within China is forecasted to grow 7.3 percent per year.

"The high demand for single-aisle airplanes will be driven by an increasing affluence among the Chinese people and an increased desire to travel within China and to neighboring countries," adds Baseler. "Continued development of the country's aviation infrastructure and the opening of new airports throughout the country will also enable China's rapid domestic air travel growth."
