Asia Pacific Cultural Center celebrated the Chinese New Year at the Tacoma Dome, Exhibition Hall from 9 AM to 7 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2007. This is the 9th Year Celebration of the APCC's Chines New Year's Celebration and featured by The Guam. The Guam's cultural dance and ceremony caught the audiences attention. The Guam is the Unincorporated Territory of the United States. Guam is considered the hub of the western Pacific and undeniably Micronesia's most cosmopolitan destination - a true example of the great American melting pot. Guam boasts large populations of Filipinos, Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, and Micronesian Islanders, as well as a few Vietnamese, Indians, and Europeans. As the 1990 census figures indicate, the ethnic composition of the island is 43 percent Chamorro, 23 percent Filipino, 15 percent other ethnic groups, 14 percent Caucasian, and 5 percent other Pacific Islanders. Approximately half of all Guam residents were born on Guam, and 70 percent of these are under the age of 34.Many other cultural
performances and cultural food displays made the exciting moment for
the visitors especially the Korean drum dance from the Korean American
Association Dance Group, Thai, Filipinos, Chinese, Japanese, Samoan's
performance added beautiful cultural experience and the most excited
Chinese New Year Celebration. The Muckleshoot Casino presented the
PINK plastic Pig to the visitors. The Pink Pig was the most popular
gift item to the visitors for this year.
