Korean -American Chamber of Commerce of Washington had year-end meeting with Dr. Kim Hyen Uk Topic: The North Korea's Nuclear Weapons Program in January 26, 2007, at the Federal Way Kokiri Restaurant. Special guests were, Senator, Dr. Paull Shin, Consul General, Kwon Chan Ho, Federal Way City of Mayor, , Michael Park, and Dr. Kim Hyen Uk. Many Business and Community Leaders attended this event.

Dr. Kim Hyen Uk says that it is deeply concerned about the nuclear weapons program by North Korea. North Korea's Nuclear weapon that they possesses which will take 15 years to build to equip like North Korea's Nuk systems for South Korea. U. S has been a great defense for South Korea and the United Nations. It is hoping and pray that continues …which it recalls that UN secretary Ban Ki Moon's speech after taking his oath of office Dec. 14, 2006, He said he would work to build "a more peaceful, more prosperous and more just world for succeeding generations."

Dr. Kim Hyen Uk and Senator Paull shin also mentioned that The North Korea continues the Nuclear weapons program, it is a big concern for South Korea and the world.

January 17, 2007, SEOUL, South Korea - The U.S. negotiator at North Korean nuclear talks will meet Wednesday with his North Korean counterpart in Germany for a second day, South Korea's foreign minister said.

Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill and the North's Kim Kye Gwan met in Berlin for several hours Tuesday, according to the U.S. State Department. South Korean Foreign Minister Song Min-soon told reporters the two would meet again Wednesday.

Song said the "meeting should produce the groundwork for reaching agreements on measures to implement the initial steps of" a September 2005 accord, in which the North agreed to give up its nuclear program in exchange for aid and security guarantees.

The progress has made in implementing that agreement, and in October, North Korea tested a nuclear weapon, drawing strong criticism from world leaders:

On July 4, 2006, North Korea tested four or five short range missiles, which landed in the Sea of Japan. The sixth missile, the Taepodong 2, was a long range missile but either failed or was aborted 40 seconds after launch. The seventh missile was launched the following day at 8:22 UTC. Media reports out of South Korea indicate that North Korea has three to four more missiles on launch pads and ready for firing. These missiles are believed to be of short to medium range. Many in the international community are now calling for more aggressive talks to have North Korea give up its nuclear weapons.

North Korea should shut down its graphite-moderated nuclear reactors and plutonium processing program in exchange for two light water reactors paid for mostly by South Korea, together with interim fuel oil shipments by the U.S.

On October 9, 2006, the North Korean government issued an announcement that it had successfully conducted a nuclear test for the first time. Both the United States Geological Survey and Japanese seismological authorities detected an earthquake with a preliminary estimated magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale in North Korea, corroborating some aspects of the North Korean claims. Within days, both the United States and China reported collecting air samples from the region that contained small amounts of radioactive material as well as seismic data showing a possible subterranean explosion, consistent with North Korea's claim that it had conducted a nuclear test.

During the Clinton administration, the U.S. and North Korea signed the Agreed Framework following a U.S. military buildup near the country, with the U.S. considering bombing the active Yongbyon nuclear reactor. (2)

The search shows that the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will visit Korea in April, 2007 for the first time, sources said in January 26, 2007.

Korean Foreign Minister Song Min-soon has been in China for the past two days, meeting with high-ranking officials to discuss North Korea's nuclear problem and bilateral issues. After holding talks with State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan and Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing on Thursday followed by visits with Wen and others yesterday, he will be going back to his country Friday, January 27, 2007.

The nuclear disarmament talks _ which consist of the United States, China, the two Koreas, Japan and Russia should be held before Feb. 10, 2007, Korean Foreign Minister Song Min-soon said without elaborating.

There are so many stories about North Korea's leader Kim Jong il's eccentricities and decadent life-style are exaggerated, possibly circulated by South Korean intelligence to discredit the Northern regime. He is a movie fanatic, and is said to have a collection of over 20,000 films. In 1978, in order to advance the North Korean film industry, he ordered North Korean agents to abduct the famous South Korean movie director Shin Sang Ok and his ex-wife, actress Che Eun Hui, and kept them for eight years while making them produce propaganda films. During that time, the two became very well acquainted with Kim Jong IL, and after escaping in 1986, they wrote a book exposing his decadent lifestyle.

The Noth Korea's nuclear weapon is growing the fears with no progress has been made in implementing that agreement, and in October, North Korea tested a nuclear weapon, drawing strong criticism from U.S. , South Korea and the world leaders.
