Air Astana Buys 7 Boeing Planes 4 Boeing 767-300ER Aircraft, 3 Dreamliners: USD 1.3 billion, the largest in the history of civil aviation of Kazakhstan.
AFP: April 11, 2012, US fighter planes escorted a Korean Air jet carrying 146 passengers and crew to a Canadian military base due to a bomb threat against the flight, officials and the airline said Wednesday.
Korean Air flight 72 from Vancouver bound for Seoul was diverted to the Comox base on Vancouver Island on Tuesday after an anonymous caller said a bomb had been planted on the plane, the South Korean flag carrier said.
The call was made to the carrier's US office 25 minutes after takeoff, the airline said in a statement, adding the Boeing 777 plane had 134 passengers and 12 crew members on board.
The aircraft landed at the airbase around 110 kilometres (70 miles) northwest of Vancouver without incident and was undergoing safety checks, it said.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said two US F-15 fighters were scrambled out of Portland, Oregon to intercept the plane "due to a potential threat associated with the aircraft".
"The Korean Airliner was intercepted, diverted and the aircraft was shadowed until it landed at Canadian Forces Base Comox," NORAD said in a statement. Source: Yahoo news

Highlights: The right blend
On a dry lake bed in the high desert of California,
Boeing and NASA are testing an unusual-looking X-plane called the Blended Wing
Body. The design lies somewhere between a flying wing and a traditional
tube-and-wing airplane. Although Boeing has no plans to develop a Blended Wing
Body commercial airplane, valuable knowledge has been gained in more than 100
test flights of two different versions.
Harry S. Gann joined Boeing heritage company Douglas
Aircraft as an engineer, but he would become best-known for his aircraft
photography, especially his dramatic air-to-air shots. Gann's pictures of the
U.S. Navy's Blue Angels and various Douglas-built Navy, Marine and Air Force
aircraft can be found in countless aviation books and magazines. For taking
such great aerial shots, Gann was named an honorary Blue Angel by the precision
flying team.
At a newly opened lab in Huntington Beach, Calif., Boeing

At Boeing in Philadelphia, work is under way on a test
stand for the site's large wind tunnel so it can test new, innovative
rotorcraft blades. It's one of many examples of how Boeing Test &

plans to test the next new thing -- even if it doesn't exist yet.
When President Richard Nixon landed in Beijing 40 years
ago in Air Force One, a 707, the historic visit opened the door for Boeing in
China. From a first order for 10 Boeing 707 jetliners, the relationship has
grown into an important partnership with the world's most populous nation and
second-largest economy.
Boeing has built more than 1,000 commercial 767 jetliners
at its Everett, Wash., plant. Now it's getting ready for a new 767 version to
move down the assembly line -- the KC-46A tanker ordered by the U.S. Air Force.
Hundreds of employees with Commercial Airplanes and Defense, Space &
Security, at dozens of sites across the United States, have teamed as "One
Boeing" to develop and build the tanker.
