Chinese President Hu
President Bush held special welcome ceremony, at South Lawn, White House in April 20th, 2006 for Chinese President Hu Jintao and shared their international system which shares the two nations many strategic interest and they discussed how China and the United States can cooperate responsibly with other nations to address common challenges. President Bush emphasized that China has been an important part of the global economy that has created opportunity for both of our nations: share an interest in expanding free and fair trade, which has increased the prosperity of both the American people and the Chinese people. Trade value $285 billion a year and US expert grew 21 percent in last year alone. It is anticipating even stronger as expanding market access for U.S. goods and services to improve enforcement of intellectual property rights, and to move toward a flexible, market-based exchange rate for its currency which will be led for the global balance. Chinese President Hu Jintao expressed that China is ready to work with the U.S. side in a spirit of seeking mutual benefit and win-win outcomes to properly address each other's concerns and facilitate the sound and the steady growth of bilateral economic cooperation and trade and continue to pursue the strategy of boosting domestic demand and ensure fast and balanced economic and social development in China. These will create more opportunities for China-U.S. economic cooperation and trade. We will continue to advance the reform of the RMB exchange rate regime, take positive steps in such areas as expanding market access, increasing imports, and strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights, and further expand China-U.S. economic cooperation and trade. President Bush appreciated that China's role as host of the six-party talks, which will be successful only if North Korea makes the right strategic decision: to abandon all its nuclear weapons and existing nuclear programs as pledged to the other five parties. President Bush will continue to seek President Hu's advice and cooperation, and urge his nation to use its considerable influence with North Korea to make meaningful progress toward a Korean Peninsula that is free of nuclear weapons. President Bush and Chinese President shared a strategic interest in enhancing security for both nation and threats to global security. It is important that global security has to be strong and reliable in order to keep the prosperity. Chinese President Hu Jintao made constructive statement that they should, on the basis of the principles set forth in the three Sino-U.S. joint communiqués, respect each other as equals and promote closer exchanges and cooperation to stay firmly rooted in the present while looking ahead to the future, and view and approach China-U.S. relations from a strategic and long-term in order to enable China to make steady progress in advancing constructive and cooperative China-U.S. relations for both benefits and for the people of the world. Chinese Hu Jintao addressed that they are ready to continue to work with the U.S. side and other parties concerned to peacefully resolve the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, and the Iranian nuclear issue through diplomatic negotiation to uphold the international nonproliferation regime and safeguard global peace and stability. President Bush also expressed to Chinese President Hu Jintao in a diplomatic way about the China's human rights and freedoms of the Chinese people. He also praised that China has become successful because the Chinese people are experience the freedom to buy, and to sell, and to produce although China could grow even more successful by allowing the Chinese people the freedom to assemble, to speak freely, and to worship. President Bush also expressed people's concern that people believe the future of Taiwan to be resolved in peacefully and opposing unilateral changes in the status quo in the Taiwan Strait by either side, and requested that all parties to avoid confrontational or provocative acts. Chinese President Hu Jintao mentioned that they are ready to expand the friendly people-to-people exchanges and enhance exchanges and cooperation in science, technology, culture, education, and other areas. Also China is ready to enhance dialogue and exchanges with the U.S. side on the basis of mutual respect and equality to promote the world's cause of human rights. He also stated that President Bush and the U.S. government have stated on various occasions that President Bush committed to the one-China policy, abide by the three Sino-U.S. joint communiqués, and oppose Taiwan independence. He appreciated President Bush's commitments. Chinese President Hu Jintao sincerely addressed that the Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory. China is going to continue to make every effort and endeavor with an every sincerity to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification of the two sides across the Taiwan Straits. China is going to work with Taiwan compatriots to promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations. However, China will never allow anyone to make Taiwan secede from China by any means. It is positive to see that both President Bush and Chinese President Hu Jintao are continue to work on the safeguard global peace and stability, global security strong and reliable in order to keep the prosperity, expanding market access, increasing imports, and strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights, and further expand China-U.S. economic cooperation and trade.
